Summer
Interns
Each year the Sandy Hook Foundation funds
spring, summer, or fall intern positions at Sandy Hook through the
National Park Service and Student Conservation Association. These
interns work in the Interpretation and Natural Resources departments for
varying lengths of time each year.
The Division of Interpretation interns perform a variety of tasks
including staffing the Visitor’s Center, the Sandy Hook Museum, giving
tours of Battery Potter and weekday tours of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse,
and also conducting the weekend Clean Beach/Healthy Beach program, where
visitors are contacted as they leave the park to talk about the park's
carry in/carry out program. The interns also serve as roving contacts,
walking on the beach or in the fort district providing information to
visitors.
