History on the Hook

Sandy Hook (732) 872-5970

The Sandy Hook Foundation continues to support the NPS in efforts to record oral histories for Fort Hancock veterans. The Foundation has given grants to preserve and make the interviews available to the public.

Take a stroll around Fort Hancock, a National Historic Landmark. Visit the Fort Hancock Museum, Battery Potter, and History House, a restored home on Officers' Row. The Sandy Hook Lighthouse, Keepers' Quarters and Barn tell the story of the lonely life of a sentinel of the sea. Most sites are open weekends with extended summer hours. Click on the links to the left to get in depth history of Sandy Hook.
